My Israel visit so far

by Tejas Patel Email

Alright, it is nearly a week since I landed in Tel Aviv, Israel. How's my stay so far? It's an experience I would say.

Walking down the streets of Israel reminds me so much of some cities in India. So what are the things I have tried/done/experiences so far?

> I have walked on the Ben Yehuda street and find some good and some bad restaurants
> I have found a lot of places where I can do the laundry myself but haven't not tried them yet
> I have walked to Jaffa city to Hotel Sheraton on the beach and really enjoyed the walk
> I have made it a point to go for evening walks on the beach half way to Jaffa city from Hotel Sheraton
> I have been to mount Masada and Dead Sea
> Walking around Jaffa city was great
> I have sat in various taxis and enjoyed my ride
> Nobody seems to follow speeding rules here, I was in a taxi today driving at 140 Km/hr when the speed zone was only 90 Km/hr. It was fun
> I have cut my leg walking in the Dead Sea
> I have experienced that the Conscierre at my hotel does not know much
> I have experienced a lot of difficulties trying to figure out things in Hebrew, as I did not see too many sign boards in English
> I love the multicultural environment that I see from time to time
> I love some of the friendly people I see at my office
> I love how most offices have their own canteens and serve you food there
> I love how my breakfast is included in my hotel stay and they have a good range of food available even for Vegetarian like myslef
> I loved the fact that one of the taxi drivers speaking Hebrew had a hindi song CD in his car and he impressed me by singing and speaking a bit of hindi.

Things that can improve my stay.

> It would have helped having more signs in English. I can appreciate the need for Hebrew signs, but lack of signs in English is not inviting for International visitors
> My Pizza Hut experience was horrible here. The service was horrible and so was the pizza. They did not even have plates to serve. Had to eat on a cardboard.

Overall, I am loving my experience so far. Looking forward to exploring more of Israel on the weekend. Anybody have any more tips for me?

Try to find a non-kosher Pizza Hut. The kosher ones do not use cheese.

Hi Wilson, I was not that fussed about Cheese in them, it was just the whole experience there that I found irritating. But now I have some pointers where I can go and try out somethings.
